'Ananahi' was starting to feel a little cramped, plus we
were thinking of maybe being a bit more adventurous with our sailing. So we
bought the boat we have now. It is called 'Callisto' and is an
Elizabethan 30. The first year we sailed her to Norway and year after
up to the West Coast of Scotland through the Caledonian Canal. She is now based
in Arisaig were we sail her to the Western Isles each year.

'BLUE SPURR' a 38 foot
Nicholson Yawl....... This is the boat we did our circumnavigation of the
World. For many years we had planned to sail around the
world.
We first
started with dinghies, then a 17ft Skipper Mariner. Next a 25ft Folkboat which
we sailed to Holland. We attended night classes to gain the RYA Offshore and
Ocean Certificates, as we searched for the right boat for us. We wanted a long
keel boat, 50% balance ratio and an aft cabin. Finally we decided on 'Blue
Spurr' a 1976 Nicholson 38. She came equipped with a liferaft, radar and Avon
inflatable dinghy. She had bad osmosis so we commissioned Clapson's of South
Ferriby to do the remedial work. In the meantime Dave fitted headsail roller
reefing, an Aries windvane self steering, new V.H.F.radio, mast steps
etc. By
August she was ready for a shakedown cruise to Holland. Everything went
perfectly. So on the 13th September 1984 we left Hull marina and the muddy
waters of the River Humber, for the last time until our return after sailing
40,000 miles.

After we got back from our Circumnavigation
we sold 'BLUE SPURR' to fund a business, as we thought we had better start
earning a wage again after our 5 year holiday. We were without a boat for a
while. After gazing at the sea while on holiday in Scotland, we realized
that we missed the freedom a boat gives you. We descided a trailer sailer would
suit us and swiftly bought a SWIFT 18. We named her
'ANANAHI' a Tahitian word meaning tomorrow. We had some
fantastic holidays with her
